Role

Susan is Executive Vice President Emeritus. As of April 1st, 2008, Susan assumed the role of Executive Director of the CCIM Institute’s Education Foundation. In addition to the Foundation, she devotes energies on behalf of the Jay W. Levine Leadership Development Academy, as well as other special assignments.

Experience

When Susan joined the CCIM Institute in 1987, then known as CIREC, she was brought in as the Director of Chapter & Membership Programs. Her primary focus was working with the development of the regional structure and chapter leadership development/training programming. In addition, within a year of coming on board, Susan was asked to work with volunteer members to offer a national conference. After a couple more years, she was also overseeing all membership related activities. By 1991, she had also assumed responsibility for overseeing the Education Division. Then in 1992, Susan was made Deputy Executive Director responsible for the administration and staffing of the Institute. Susan eventually assumed the role of Executive Vice President/CEO in 1994. She continued in that role through year-end 2007.

Prior to joining the CCIM organization, Susan had worked for another professional association, the American Public Works Association, which was located in Chicago. She started there right after college, and over a 13 year period, became a "jack of all trades" within the association.

In the fall of 2006, the board of directors recognized the passion and dedication that Susan has brought to the Institute for many years by awarding her an honorary CCIM designation. The board also created the Susan J. Groeneveld endowment for applicants who enroll in the Jay W. Levine Leadership Development Academy, a program first championed by Susan in 2003.

In 2007, the CCIM Institute Board of Directors created and awarded Susan the first "Susan J. Groeneveld Visionary Award".  This award can be given on an annual basis to a CCIM Institute member or staff member.

In 2001, Susan successfully completed all four CCIM core courses.
